When it comes to fielding a fantasy football eleven or squad that is going to make a real impact, you can’t just rely on the big-name players to make the difference. Every player’s team has its fair share of Mohamed Salah’s, and your team will only really stand out is if you get ahead of the curve when you select your less expensive picks.
We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve thought that our game week was a massive success, only to see others in our leagues outperforming us. This is usually because they’ve been more forward-thinking in their approach.
In other words, instead of forming a team and having a sum of money left to pick up those last remaining players, they’ve worked out who is in form and playing for a ‘lesser’ team and is therefore worthy of inclusion.
You may have all the knowledge in the world, but it is sometimes tricky to select a player who is about to blow up in a good way. Indeed if you care to take some good advice, such as glowing comments and analysis of this 777 casino review, we’d suggest you make room for any, or maybe all, of the three surprise packages below.
Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa)
January additions are always a bit problematic; indeed, most signings made in the window are acts of desperation, but here is one that should now be a fixture in your fantasy football selection.
The former Liverpool man failed to sparkle at Barcelona but was very effective during his loan spell at Bayern Munich (where he won the Champions League), and Steven Gerrard helped to lure the Brazilian back to the Premier League, and he’s not been found wanting.
In eight Premier League starts, he’s already grabbed four goals and three assists, and Aston Villa don’t have much to play for, and as such, their players, especially their more creative talents, will thrive (just look at Jacob Ramsey).
Ivan Toney (Brentford)
There are not that many solid, cost-effective strikers to select in the fantasy football game at present, but the Brentford man is a player who simply must be in your set-up, not least as he’s very inexpensive.
Brentford are pulling away from the drop zone, but they will be pushing from now until the end of the campaign, and the arrival of Christian Eriksen will greatly aid Toney’s goalscoring exploits.
The prolific marksman has bagged seven goals in his last five games; expect more of the same.
Conor Coady (Wolves)
This is less of a surprise package but more a consistent performer who is, generally speaking, less costly than other defensive players you might have in your fantasy football team.
The Wolves man weighs in with attacking points, and Wolves don’t concede many, and Coady is a player who is selected week in, week out. He’s a banker of a player who should be part of your defensive line, which may give you more money to invest in a big-money player.
Coady has racked up 11 clean sheets already this season and also has only been booked twice.
